Plus Size Wedding Dresses

By Bobette Kyle-Wagner | May 8, 2008

Plus Size Wedding DressesWedding dresses are made smaller than regular clothing, so if you are an average US woman (163 pounds*), don’t be too surprised if you unexpectedly find yourself needing a plus size wedding gown. I, for example, generally wear a size 12 top. But my bust measurement translates to a size 16W gown. To find your correct “wedding gown” size, compare your measurements to dress-size guides found online or in dress shops. Different wedding gown designers size their dresses a bit differently, but as with street clothes, you’ll probably find yourself wearing one of two sizes depending on the style and designer. Also, remember that wedding dresses almost always need alterations and it is no big deal to have yours taken in before the wedding. Shop plus size wedding dresses (including the design at left) — along with size charts — here. For more on wedding dress styles, visit the MyOnlineWeddingHelp.com dress styles page.
