Flat Wedding Shoes
By Bobette Kyle-Wagner | May 21, 2008
Wearing high heels during your entire wedding day is not the only option. Many women buy flats — to wear either as their main footwear or to change into after the ceremony. There are several flat designs available, many of which are dyeable:
- Satin, soft-soled ballerina shoes look elegant and are good for indoor wear. Some designs come with a flattering ribbon that ties around the leg.
- Flat thongs or sandals are available as well. A strappy style is great for an outdoor or destination wedding, or for walking on rough ground.
- While most do not think of wedding tennis shoes as “flats,” they are definitely comfortable! You can go with a subtle white style or embellish a pair of tennies with detailing to match your dress.
- Hardsole, closed toe flats protect your feet better than sandals, are more flattering than tennis shoes, and are better for outdoor wear than traditional ballet shoes. Some styles are essentially ballerina slippers with leather soles (like the ones pictured at left), but several designers offer attractive flats in different styles.
