Choosing the Right Dress
By Bobette Kyle-Wagner | February 19, 2008
It’s nice to see Amarette’s approach to wedding gown shopping reflected elsewhere. St. Louis Post Dispatch (stltoday.com) fashion editor Debra D. Bass recommends trying on a lot of dresses “…dresses you hate and dresses you can’t afford, dresses you think are too plain and dresses you think are downright gaudy.” This because it’s a learning process. You will see how different dress features and gown styles look on you. And you may be surprised. The way a dress looks on the hanger is not necessarily how it will look on. The danger (as Christy, Amarette’s future SIL, points out) is falling in love with a dress out of budget range. The solution to that is going in with the initial mindset that you are looking for features, not a gown to buy. I sure am glad we have about six months before final decision time!
