Lemp Falstaff Brewery Fire

By Bobette Kyle-Wagner | February 4, 2008

We had a minor OMG moment yesterday afternoon. The old Lemp (Falstaff) brewery caught on fire. When we first started looking at the Lemp as a reception venue, I thought the Grand Hall was in the old brewery (and had been telling people that). But, it’s actually in the old stable/carriage house building across the road from the brewery. These buildings were built in the late 1800’s and are very sturdy brick, so no real external damage from the fire…seems it was contained inside, but hard to put out because of flammable, 8″-12″ thick cork-lined walls. Channel 4 has some pictures of the 4-alarm fire here. Channel 2 (Fox) has the story and video here.
