Making a Veil Step 2: Adding the Blusher (Face Veil)
Last time, we went over how to figure out how much tulle you need for your veil and cut the material. Today is step 2 in the veil making process–the blusher. If you would like the blusher (shorter versions may also be called face veils) on your veil, here is how. In general, here are the steps:
- Mark the point where your blusher portion ends and the veil begins.
- Work with the tulle, creating “pseudo-gathers” and adjusting until you are happy with how your blusher looks (the permanent gathers will come in later, after you’ve bejeweled, bedazzled, or otherwise decorated the veil.
- If the blusher is too full, you can taper the material to create less fullness around the face.
- Alternately, for a veil with fewer gathers at the crown, cut the blusher from the veil and craft the face veil separtately. Then sew it onto the comb with the veil or otherwise attach
