A Healthy Bride and Groom Must Eat Right
OK, you’re relaxed. Now what? Now, food or, more accurately, nutrition. What are
you eating? When are you eating? Chances are your attention to this subject has
slipped a bit in the hustle and bustle of wedding preparation. But, if you are
what you eat, are you fast becoming a candy bar or a bag of potato chips? And,
if you’re grabbing a snack on the run or skipping meals altogether, it’s time to
take stock. Here are a few very basic rules:
- Be aware of what you’re eating, why you’re eating, and the size of the
portions on your plate.
- Enroll in a structured diet program, such as
Weight Watchers or
Jenny Craig. You can register and find meeting
locations online through the links above.
- Start the day with breakfast. It gets your metabolism going and keeps your
blood sugar on an even keel.
- Drink water -- a lot of it. It keeps you hydrated and fills you up.
Sometimes, when you think you’re hungry, you’re really thirsty.
- Focus on nutritious recipes
when you cook
and as many fresh fruits and vegetables as you can include in your diet.
- Snack throughout the day on foods like fresh or dried fruit, granola bars, carrot sticks, trail mix, or
pretzels. See this
Better Homes & Gardens article for a shopping list of
healthy snacks.
