Men’s Wedding Bands
|
|
Grooms to be: |
Most men rate the comfort factor high on their list of requirements for a wedding band. Since a man’s wedding ring is apt to be more streamlined than a woman’s, it is often easier to build in comfort with the shape of the edge or the cut of the metal. When you’re looking for a ring that feels good on your finger, consider these options:
Many ring designers build in one or more of these comfort features. When looking at mens wedding bands, look for a "comfort fit" or similar designation.
How do you spend your time? Do you like the theatre or a ball game? Do you enjoy five-star restaurants or ordering in pizza? Do you run in the morning and pump iron or avoid exercise like the plague? There are no right or wrong answers; there are only your answers, which have a direct bearing on your choice of a man wedding ring. Elegant or rough and tumble, what kind to wear or whether to wear one at all is your choice. If you are active and want to wear a wedding band at all times, a sturdy titanium wedding band is a good lifestyle choice. If you live a less active lifestyle, a 14K white gold ring (made of a softer metal than titanium) may better suit you.
When women make choices about rings and other elements of their weddings, they consider their personalities. You should do that, as well. It’s important to find a match between this very important fashion accessory and who you are. Are you no frills or flamboyant, conservative or flashy, consistent or mercurial? It’s worth the time to ask yourself these questions. If you dress classically and work in a formal environment, a fancy, diamond wedding band probably isn’t you. Don’t opt for a passing fad in jewelry; you’re going to be wearing this ring for a long time.
Obviously, men’s wedding bands are going to vary all over the map in terms of
price. Every element changes the cost — metals, materials, width, gemstones,
style, design, and labor, to name just a few. When choosing a man's wedding
band, you really should shop around. Look at as many different styles and
combination of elements as you can. Do your homework. Surf the Web. Visit your
favorite local jeweler. Talk to your bride. Ask friends how they went about
making this decision. Take notes to keep the numbers straight. Think about
custom
designing your own ring. Consider a
vintage wedding band,
maybe even one from your own family. You know what you or your fiancé can
afford. Don’t allow yourself to be talked into something you will regret later.
Another point to keep in mind is that, just as you pay for your future wife’s
ring, she will most likely pay for yours. Then, the questions become will it fit
within her budget?
