The St. Louis Photographer Dilemma

TwitterFacebookPinterestLinkedinEmail

It took us a while to decide which photographer to use for Amarette and Steve’s wedding. We all wanted a journalistic-style photographer with a lot of experience. Steve’s sister, Christy, has several friends who have been burned by unprofessional photographers (not delivering the photos in a timely manner, etc). His family has also used a premium photographer — St. Louis Color — for several weddings and they are very happy with the work. I agree, but am freaking out about paying $3,500 for photos!

My belief was there must be photographers out there who are dependable, do great work, and are not in the premium-priced category. So, Amarette and I did some research and found Gail Fleming. She’s degreed, professional, has a lot of experience, we loved her photos, and for $2,000 we could get pretty much the same package. Salomons, however, are very loyal to Guermo and really, REALLY wanted to use him for the wedding. So, Steve offered to pay the balance over $2,000, which works fine for me (as long as Tim & I and Mom get parents’ albums!). Also, because St. Louis Color an agency with several photographers, if Guermo is ill or can’t make the wedding for some reason there are several back-ups that can cover. Ironically, it turned out that Gail Fleming got her start with them (which is another testimate to the quality of her work).
