Your wedding veil is one of the easier pieces of your wedding ensemble to DIY (do it yourself). The cost of purchasing your veil is usually extremely expensive compared to making one, so even if you experiment with two or three styles, you will still be ahead cost wise. Follow a step-by-step procedure and you’ll be pleased with the results:
) Decide what type of veil and headpiece you will wear.
) Design your veil shape.
) Figure out how much material you will need (common terms for veil material are tulle, bridal illusion, or netting).
) Buy your supplies.
) Lay out and cut the tulle.
) Finish the edges (there are a variety of choices, each yielding different results).
) Add embellishments, such as rhinestones, sequins or pearls (if you want them).
) Gather the veil (unless you are attaching a comb. In that case, you will gather as you sew in the comb).
) Attach a headpiece, loops, or comb.
Follow the steps above and you are limited only by your imagination. Full instructions are on our Make Your Own Wedding Veil page, here.
