4 Wedding Apps to Make Your Wedding More Fun For Guests

If you are one who likes a party-like atmosphere you no doubt want your guests to have as much fun as possible. The modern way to do this is through your own personalized smartphone and iPad app. With the right one, you can keep your guests up to date on the details and directions; give them a place to upload their photos into an album; and/or tweet during the festivities. All this makes your guests feel more a part of the wedding and helps them take enjoying the festivities to a new level.
Wedding apps to make your events more fun for guests.

Without further ado, here are four that will do just that…

Wed Pics

Wed Pics specialized in wedding albums filled by pictures taken by your guests. You set up the app and create custom albums. Through the Wed Pics app people can then upload pictures and leave notes.

Yapp

Of the free services, this seems the most robust for guests. You sign up online for a free account, then click through the easy set up. When you are happy with it, press “publish” and your app is live. Some of the features your guests will enjoy the most include

  • Photos of key people in the wedding, along with a short bio and contact information–a great way for people to get to know who’s who before the event.
  • Information about the wedding and surrounding activities, complete with maps and directions–great for the “where and when” logistics.
  • A personal Twitter hashtag, with a built in feed, for everyone to chat and upload photos taken during the event.

Wedding Party App

This one is similar to Wed Pics without the albums and is a little more streamlined. You set up your custom app with a cover photo and your timeline. Guests can can upload photos and leave notes in a news stream. You can download the photos and notes at any time.

Appy Couple

Appy Couple is actually a wedding website with an app, so is more robust than the others. Like other wedding webistes, you can add registry, travel information, and a few more details as well as more typical “app features”…photo uploads, notes, and integration with Twitter and Facebook. This is also the only one that costs: $28 (as of this writing) for your website, app, and email.

Wedding apps are a relatively new creature, so each of the above still have bugs (as early versions usually do). Reviews tend to be a mix of 5 stars and 1 star, depending on if the user had technical problems when installing and using the app. The good news is there was evidence the developers are working through the bugs and putting out upgrades.

Even with the bugs, you are likely to find it well worth the little effort involved with creating your custom wedding app and sharing it with the smart phone users among your guests.
