Your hair is your crowning glory. If ever there was time to make the most of a good thing, it is now. How do you find the right hairstyle for your wedding day? Pinterest, of course! (Check out some wedding hairstyle inspiration here.)
Wedding hairstyles range from a more elegant version of your normal hairstyle to something far more elaborate and dramatic. If you are confused by too many choices, ask yourself if your wedding day hairstyle flatters your face, your wedding gown, and your veil. Does it suit you? Does it accentuate you best features and minimize your weak ones? Is it elegant, yet comfortable? Yes? You have found the right style. Here are some suggestions for working with different kinds of hair to create attractive effects.
Hair Length
Have medium to long hair and want to accentuate your neck or show off the back of your gown and shoulders? Try a wedding updo. It can be as sleek as a French twist or as elaborate as a mass of individually styled ringlets.
On the other hand, if an updo would require a too much maintenance to stay up for 10-ish hours, you can wear your long hair swept up or back.
Long hair can also be worn half-up and half down, pulled back, braided, curled, or twisted with a fabric that matches your gown.
If you want longer hair, but don’t have time to grow it, use extensions to add volume and length to your style.
If you think you’re limited with short hair, think again. You can select a style from soft and curly to sleek and straight, and anywhere in between. A curling iron and or volumizing product can create more fullness in the crown and back. Or give it more attitude with styling mud.
Medium-length hair can be curled, straightened, tucked behind your ears, or loosely brushed.
And all hair lengths can be dress it up with a flower, tiara, or other hair decoration.
Hair Texture
With today’s range of hairstyling products you can, quite literally, create any hair texture you want.
- Naturally curly or permed hair can be done in so many ways, from feminine and sexy to earthy and free spirited. Or, use keratin smoothing products and a flat iron for a straight and shiny look.
- Straight hair can be given more volume with special shampoo, conditioner, and hair gel as well as drying and hair spraying it upside down. You also have the option of curling or perming it.
