Wedding Planning Cheat Sheet

When planning a wedding it’s easy to accidentally let something slip through the cracks because you thought of it too late or overlooked it. Either way, you end up paying…with higher costs or by missing out on what you wanted. Avoid that by using the cheat sheet, detailed further down, to help you stay organized as you plan your wedding.

Notice I’ve left off timings except for week of wedding and the day before. That’s because you may be planning for anywhere from two months to two years ahead of time. Instead, I’ve sectioned off the tasks as:

  • engagement
  • getting the ball rolling
  • picking vendors
  • deciding what to DIY
  • items to buy
  • don’t forget to do
  • last minute details
  • last second details

This more closely reflects how you go about planning in “real life.”

You can see the cheat sheet below, but you may want to get the document here.

You can save the document file to your computer or cloud, then fill in columns and blanks beside each line item with as well as print it. (Note…if you are going to fill it in, save the file first because your notes won’t save if you make them to the online copy).

  2. Thank you so so much for this. I was just starting to get over whelmed and decided to try to budget for a wedding planner, and the less expensive one is like $1000. Thank you again so much, I have confidence I can do this :)

  3. Love this! My best friend just got engaged, my brain was everywhere and this puts everything in order so well!

  4. So glad it helped, Caitlin. Rather than putting it into a timeline (because everyone has a different amount of time to plan!), I tried to order it how you’ll be thinking as the day gets closer. ~Bobette

  5. This is going to be my go to!!! I am planning our wedding in 3 months and am totally freaking out about all of the details to be handled. This will ease some of the stress for sure. Thank you creating this!

  6. I was just writing my list and happened to see this on Pinterest. You did a great job! Thanks for making it available! (Two other corrections I found…accommodations has two “m’s” and Place card is two words. Also, I put an extra space between some of the links and the end parenthesis to highlight the website.)
