Some bridal consultants will tell you to worry less about the shoe's appearance. "Because most wedding gowns are floor-length and hide the shoes," they explain, "style is less important." Your Inner Accessory Diva disagrees. She whispers that shoes not only complete the outfit, but also reflect your personality and fashion sense.

You, of course, will search all of the local wedding shoe shops looking for the perfect shoe. But have you seriously considered the Internet? With a virtually endless shoe supply, finding your perfect wedding shoe is easier than ever. If you are like most brides who are looking for the perfect white or ivory wedding shoes, you will not be disappointed in the selection.

High Heeled Wedding Shoes

Bridal flats and tennis shoes might be comfortable on your feet, but does your Inner Accessory Diva cry out in pain at the very thought of wearing them under your gorgeous gown? If so, you definitely need high-heeled wedding shoes for your ceremony. As with everyday heels, you will find a wide range of available heel heights: from the short 1"-2" heel to the 6" to-7" stiletto. Heel shapes vary also, from pencil-thin to a wide or wedged heel. Wide-based heels make for much easier dancing than their thinner counterparts. Walking on a sidewalk or lawn is also easier.

Most experts recommend wearing a heel height you are already comfortable with. If Diva screams you must wear a higher heel, practice, practice, practice well in advance of the big day. In any case, break in your shoes by following our tips here.

Rhinestone Wedding Shoes

If your jewelry, tiara, or gown includes rhinestones, you may be looking for rhinestone shoes to accompany them. Generally, your have two alternatives:

1. Purchase plain white or ivory wedding shoes and add a rhinestone shoe clip or decoration.

2. Purchase shoes already decorated with rhinestones, either on the straps or otherwise integrated into the shoe design.

A word of warning: Don't make Kara Saun's Project Runway mistake. A friend donated free designer shoes that went wonderfully with her dress designs, but the rough embellishments tended to catch on flowing hemlines. If your long gown has a decorated or irregular hem, find a shoe with decorations similar to those you want, and "test walk" them with your dress.

Platform Wedding Shoes

Do you march to the beat of a different drum and want the shoes to prove it? A pair of women's platform shoes may be just the thing for you.

Color Wedding Shoes: Pink, Silver, Purple, and More

If pink, silver, or purple is more your idea of the perfect bride's shoe, you can find those online, too, along with many other colors. Expand your search to include bridesmaids’ shoes, and you can find almost any color shoe that captures your fancy.
