Birdcage Veil Material - Netting

Strictly speaking, most veils are made from some type of netting. Ordinary tulle -- which the vast majority of veils are made from -- is actually a very fine mesh netting. When you think of net, however, you probably envision large-mesh Russian or French style netting. Short birdcage veils and hat veils are often made with this coarser-weave veil netting. Recent examples or birdcage or short net veils include Katherine Heigl's wisp of a wedding veil, Reese Witherspoon's veil in the movie Sweet Home Alabama, and Jessica Alba's birdcage veil in Fantastic Four 2: Rise of the Silver Surfer.

English netting is another type of net. This is a fine, soft netting, more opaque and stiffer than bridal illusion or silk.
